A fuel cell includes a pair of porous electrodes 1, 2, enclosing a liquid electrolyte 3 and having gaseous reagents supplied at 4, 5, each electrode having a coarse pore size towards the gas and a fine pore size towards the electrolyte, and the layers of diffusing pore size in each electrode are made of different materials. The fine pore layers may be of silver and the oxygen electrode may have a coarse layer of copper and the hydrogen electrode may have a coarse layer of nickel or platinum. |
