Provided are: an anion exchange resin that makes it possible to manufacture a cell electrode catalyst layer, a binder for forming an electrode catalyst layer, and a fuel cell electrolyte membrane having excellent chemical characteristics and mechanical characteristics; a fuel cell electrolyte membrane, a binder for forming an electrode catalyst layer, and a cell electrode catalyst layer formed from the anion exchange resin; and a fuel cell provided with the fuel cell electrolyte membrane or the cell electrode catalyst layer. In the present invention there is used an anion exchange resin in which: hydrophobic units and hydrophilic units are bonded with carbon-carbon bonds interposed therebetween, divalent hydrophobic groups comprising one or more aromatic rings repeating with carbon-carbon bonds interposed therebetween in the hydrophobic units, and divalent hydrophilic groups comprising one or a plurality of aromatic rings, at least one of which ring having an anion exchange group, repeating with carbon-carbon bonds interposed therebetween in the hydrophilic units; and divalent fluorine-containing groups that have a specific structure are bonded with carbon-carbon bonds interposed therebetween in the hydrophobic units and/or the hydrophilic units and/or a main chain other than the units. |
