In a rectilinear-motion bearing for supporting a reciprocable table 1 upon a base 4, balls 12 are positioned between guideways 8, 5 attached to the table 1 and the base 4, respectively, and limit means are provided which allow equal and uniform movement of the balls. The guideways ways 8, 5 have ballways 9, 7 therein. The limit means comprise racks 16, 19 fastened by screws 17, 21 to the table 1 and base 4, respectively, and pinions 23, 30 both of which are in mesh with the racks. The pinions are located adjacent the ends of each row of balls, buffer-pads 24, 31 being positioned intermediate the pinions and the end balls. The pinion, which may be mounted on a ball or have a ball-hub, is guided by the end-faces of the guideways and is received by a recess 27 in the buffer-pad. Stops 29, 32 are provided at the ends of the guideways and a dust-shield 33, Fig. 3, is included. |
