A solid-state image pickup apparatus comprises: an image pickup unit (20) that is constituted by a plurality of pixels (21); a row selection circuit (25) that controls charge storage periods and that selects pixels (21) on a row-by-row basis from the plurality of pixels (21); and a read circuit (30) that reads signals from the pixels (21) selected by the row selection circuit (25). Each of the plurality of pixels (21) constituting the image pickup unit (20) is classified as any one of a plurality of types of pixels (21) receiving lights having different properties. The row selection circuit (25) controls the charge storage periods such that, for the pixels located in each same row in the image pickup unit (20), the charge storage period of first type of pixels (21) (G-pixels (21a), R-pixels (21b) and B-pixels (21c)) among the plurality of types of pixels is a first charge storage period and the charge storage period of second type of pixels (21) (IR-pixels (21d)) among the plurality of types of pixels is a second charge storage period.
