A power assist vehicle (1) includes a handle part (152) that a user grips in order to cause the power assist vehicle (1) to move. At a drive part for driving wheels, generated is assist power in accordance with a force with which the handle (152) is pushed toward the front of the power assist vehicle (1) and a force with which the handle (152) is pulled toward the rear of the power assist vehicle (1). The handle (152) includes: a pipe (103) that extends in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the pushing force and the direction of the pulling force; an outer sleeve (104) that is attached to part of an outer circumferential surface of the pipe (103); and a spring switch (105) for detecting the pushing force and a spring switch (106) for detecting the pulling force, both of which are provided between the pipe (103) and the outer sleeve (104). The power assist vehicle (1) has excellent strength and can precisely generate the assist power intended by a user.
