In one aspect, the present invention provides a method for treating cancer comprising tumor cell vaccination in combination with hematopoietic and immune cell transplantation. In some embodiments, the method involves autologous tumor cell vaccination prior to autologous hematopoietic and immune cell transplantation. In another aspect, the present invention provides a method of purifying tumor cells from a subject in preparation for vaccination.

1. A therapeutic cell composition for reducing a number of tumor cells in a recipient and formulated for administration to said recipient in need thereof, said composition comprising:
a plurality of immune cells and a plurality of hematopoietic cells, said plurality of immune cells and said plurality of hematopoietic cells are purified from a donor previously vaccinated with an effective dose of purified tumor cells, wherein said donor is previously treated for a cancer.
