The present invention relates to an aerosol-generating system with a primary device (100) and a secondary device in the form of an electrically heated aerosol-generating device (102). The secondary device comprises a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, a cavity (132), provided in the proximal end of the housing, configured to receive an aerosol-generating article, a power supply, at least one electrical heating element,and a plurality of electrical contacts (130) provided at the distal end of the housing. The maximum radius of a cross-section of the housing adjacent the proximal end is greater than the maximum radius of a cross-section of the housing adjacent the distal end. The invention also relates to an aerosol-generating system incorporating the device. The maximum radius of the cross-section of the secondary device housing adjacent the proximal end is greater than the maximum radius at an open end of an primary device cavity, and the longitudinal length of the cavity in the primary device is substantially equal to the longitudinal distance from the distal end of the secondary device to the portion of the secondary device having the greater maximum radius. |
