The purpose of the invention is to provide a low power consuming lighting device and a passenger compartment lighting device capable of generating higher luminance by minimizing the loss of incident light from a light source. The lighting device (18) is provided with a light source (22) and a light guide (23). The light guide (23) comprises: a light guide body (23a) shaped like an elongated bar; a light incident surface (28) provided on one end surface of the light guide body (23a) facing the light source (22) and formed into a convex curved shape to refract the light from the light source (22) toward a central optical axis (O); and a light capturing flange (27) which projects outward from the central optical axis (O) from the lateral surface (light emission surface)(25a - 25d) of the light guide body (23a) on the rear side of the light incident surface (28) and is provided with a light capturing surface (27a) for capturing light that passes through the light incident surface (28) leaks outward from the central optical axis (O) and refracting the light toward the central optical axis (O).
