A hole (10) cutter has a substantially cylindrical blade body (12) that defines an interior surface (14) and an exterior surface (16) that is located on an opposite side of the blade body (12) relative to the interior surface (14). A cutting edge (18) is located at one end of the blade body (12) that generates swarf in cutting the work piece. A pattern (20) is formed on the exterior (16) and/or interior (14) surfaces of the blade body (12) and defines a path (22) on each respective surface of the blade body (12).
