The present disclosure relates to: a solid-state image pickup element wherein gain transition can be performed at a high speed; and an electronic apparatus. A ramp generating circuit of the present invention is provided with sample-and-hold circuits and ramp generating D-A converters (DAC) of a number corresponding to the kinds of necessary gains (for instance, two kinds of gains, i.e., a low gain and a high gain). The two sample-and-hold circuits can separately hold gain DAC output voltages of different gains. Consequently, switching to the ramp generating DAC is made possible by means of ramp selection signals, said ramp generating DAC holding a necessary gain voltage. The present disclosure can be applied to, for instance, CMOS solid-state image pickup elements to be used in image pickup apparatuses. |
