Abstract An intraocular lens for insertion into a patient's eye, the intraocular lens comprising: a lens portion shaped for focusing light passing therethrough; and a flange formed around a circumference of the lens portion; wherein a groove is formed in the flange or between the flange and the lens portion, the groove being rotationally asymmetric and configured to position and retain the flange within a capsulorhexis incision in the lens capsule of the patient's eye at a rotational orientation.
