A method and system are disclosed for processing an electronic coupon in a transaction involving a payment gateway, the method comprising obtaining from a payment gateway an indication of a transaction involving a user; determining if an electronic coupon is associated with the transaction using at least the indication of the transaction; and if an electronic coupon is associated with the transaction, informing the user of said electronic coupon and transmitting to the payment gateway an indication of a credit to apply for said user in accordance with said electronic coupon. |
