PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide diblock copolymers that, when dissolved in selective solvents, self-assemble into spherical or cylindrical micelles, vesicles and other structures, to provide well defined nanostructures.SOLUTION: Disclosed are self-assembling diblock copolymers of the formula (I). Embodiments of the membranes contain the diblock copolymer self-assembled into a cylindrical morphology. Also disclosed is a method of preparing such copolymers.
