<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot that is structurally and functionally flexible in response to changes in and stimuli from an external environment, and also capable of traveling faster. <P>SOLUTION: The robot is provided with a pair of long legs whose longitudinal directions are arranged in parallel with a traveling direction, and travels by actuating the pair of legs where the respective legs comprise an actuator comprising a plate-like flexible member and a shape memory alloy that is attached to the flexible member and varies in length by being contracted through electric heating and drawn through cooling. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
