摘要 Aliphatic and cyclic acetals are separated from alcohols and/or water by submitting the mixture of acetal, alcohol and/or water to fractional distillation in the presence of a polyamine, an amino-alcohol, a polyhydric alcohol or a partially etherified polyhydric alcohol, whereby the purified acetal is obtained as distillate. Examples are given relating to the purification of methylal from methanol and/or water, using ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, 1 : 3-butylene glycol, methyl diglycol, ethanolamine, triethanolamine, and triethylene tetramine as extraction agents. Other examples relate to the separation of acetaldehyde-dimethyl acetal from methanol using ethanolamine, and the separation of acetaldehyde-diethyl acetal from propanol using diethylene glycol. Formaldehyde-dibutyl acetal is separated from sec.-octanol by distilling the mixture under reduced pressure with triethylene glycol. The separation of 1 : 3-dioxolane from ethanol and/or water is referred to. Dioxolanes with methyl-, ethyl-, and propyl-substituents are also referred to.
