A portable charging case for a rechargeable stylus or pen comprises a charger body or base 22 having a receptacle 42 for interfacing with a charging block 64 at a first end of the stylus 54, the charging block having a plurality of charging terminals 66 which may be ferromagnetic. The charger base has a charging interface 26 electrically coupled to a plurality of charging contacts 52 that may be connected via a logic board to dynamically change a polarity of each charging contact to match its respective charging terminal. The charger base may also have a magnetic element for selectively securing the stylus charging block relative to it, and circuitry (Fig.4, 50) coupled to a communications bus to carry electrical signals. The charging case may have a cap assembly 24 including an enclosure for slidably engaging the base assembly and selectively covering the stylus. A system including the charger base and cap assembly comprises a stylus with a rechargeable power source coupled to the plurality of terminals of the charging block. |
