An apparatus for a vehicle 100 driven by an electric motor 123, powered by an energy storage means 150, generates an audible sound dependent on whether the vehicle 100 is charging. The vehicle 100 may be an electric vehicle or a hybrid electric vehicle. The sound or sonic signature may be generated upon detecting or receiving a signal from a portable user identification device 190, such as an electronic key. The sound may be generated inside or outside the vehicle 100 cabin. A plurality of different sounds may be selected, according to a state of charge of the vehicle 100, or whether the vehicle 100 is charging. A vehicle 100 comprising the apparatus and a method of providing feedback to a vehicle user by generating a sound in this way are also presented. |
