The invention relates to a particle separator for use in the treatment of particulate- containing fluids. The invention relates also to a method for manufacturing and operating such a particle separator. The particle separator of the invention comprises an annular open particle separator assembly (RAPE), including an annular particle separator component (3) which features coupled-together, corrugated, meshed screens, mats, membranes and/or foils with tortuous open channels therebetween, and that for the annular particle separator component (3) has been formed from a metal, a fibrous material and/or some other material an outer skin (4) and an inner skin (5), inside which is a void section (6) for installing at least one functional unit, such as an oxidation catalyst, a removal catalyst for oxides of nitrogen, a full filter, an open particle separator, a three-way catalyst, a reformation catalyst, an ammonia slip catalyst and/or a urea hydrolysis unit. |
