The present invention relates to the purification of a target molecule such as immunoglobulin from plasma. The use of an ion exchanger of a specific type of a cross-linked polyvinyl ether substrate particularly promotes a target molecule with high yields. A purification method of a target molecule from a plasma sample comprises the following steps: a) providing the plasma sample including the target molecule; and b) eluting the purified target molecule from a matrix by applying the plasma sample to ion exchange chromatography on a polyvinyl ether matrix having an anionic group of 600 to 1,200 μmol/g.
