摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging device which can reduce only a smear component while a total amount of charges to be treated is maintained and can improve image quality by relatively reducing a smear signal and to provide a driving method of the solid-state imaging device and a camera.SOLUTION: A solid-state imaging device includes: a plurality of sensors 11 including photoelectric conversion functions arranged in a matrix; a plurality of vertical transfer sections 12 which are arranged in accordance with a column array of the plurality of sensors and transfer signal charges which are read from the sensors in a row array direction; a horizontal transfer section 15 which transfers the signal charges transferred from the vertical transfer section in a column array direction; charge discharging sections 40 which are formed in a unit of the plurality of columns of the vertical transfer section and can selectively discharge the signal charge to the horizontal transfer section from the vertical transfer section; and a drive system which performs driving for controlling a saturated signal amount so that a smear component is relatively reduced in accordance with the number of columns which discharge the signal charge in the charge discharge section.
