904,554. Semi-conductor devices. STONE & CO.. (DEPTFORD) Ltd., J. Nov. 4, 1960 [Dec. 16, 1959], No. 42779/59. Class 37. A semi-conductor device such as a transistor or, as shown (Fig. 2), an encapsulated Ge or Si rectifier 4, has a conical portion 3 which is received in a complementary recess 2a in a heatdissipating body 1a. The rectifier 4 extends into a counterbore 17a in the body 1a to which it is bolted, the arrangement being such that the edge 5 of the rectifier adjacent the conical portion does not seat against the body. The body 1a, which comprises a plurality of fins 20, may be produced by extrusion. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement similar to that described in Specification 881,571, in which the conical portion 3 of rectifier 4 is received in a complementary recess 2 in a heat-sink body 1 of Cu, A1, &c. A thin disc 6 of mica &c. is interposed between body 1 and a thickened portion 7 of the wall of a box, e.g. of cast Al, in which the rectifier is mounted by means of a threaded stud 9 passing through an insulating, e.g. ceramic, bush 8 and a mica washer 14, and being secured by nut 10 in a recess 11 in the exterior of the wall, the recess being filled with insulating compound and closed by an A1 disc 19. |
