The present invention relates to a power saving type display device which recognizes the location of a user by using range resolution of an ultrawideband (UWB) sensor, thereby controlling power and the brightness of a display. The power saving type display device comprises: a UWB sensor for recognizing a user positioned in a sensing area, and calculating the distance between the display device and the user to measure the location of the user; and a control unit for receiving the location of the user measured by the UWB sensor to control power supplied to the display device, and the brightness of a screen of the display device. Accordingly, the present invention can accurately and promptly find the location of the user, allows the screen to be turned off when the user is out of a viewing area and to be turned on when the user enters the viewing area again, thereby preventing unnecessary power consumption when the display is not viewed. |
