929,724. Ornamenting metal sheets. REPUBLIC STEEL CORPORATION.. April 19, 1962 [May 5, 1961], No. 15264/62. Class 93. [Also in Group XXII] In a method of texturing or decorating metal sheets suitable for use as building panels, a first sheet has applied to it a layer of powder and then random drops of liquid, a second sheet is placed over it and the sheets are rolled together, the liquid spreading to form a random pattern free of powder and the powder being pressed into the sheets to form depressed areas, the sheets finally being separated. The resultant intaglio pattern on one surface of each sheet has raised areas 2 having a shiny finish and depressed areas 3 having a dull finish. Suitable metals for the sheets are stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, the liquid may be water, oil, or any liquid which does not wet the powder, and the powder may be a metallic or resinous organic powder, having a hardness greater than 3 Mohs. |
