The present invention relates to a mobile terminal. The present invention provides a mobile terminal capable of measuring and indicating a length of a subject within a preview image using a laser autofocus sensor, and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal comprises: a camera filming an image; a display unit displaying a preview image being filmed by the camera; a laser sensor measuring an actual distance between the mobile terminal and the subject included in the preview image; and a control unit designating a start point and a finish point of the subject, and measuring a length of the subject based on information of a rotational angle of the mobile terminal, and a distance information between the camera and start and finish points.
