The present invention relates to a mobile terminal, and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal of the present invention comprises: a camera for receiving a preview image including at least one subject; a touch screen for displaying the preview image received from the camera; and a control unit for controlling a frame rate of the preview image according to whether a motion of the subject occurs in the preview image. According to the present invention, when the motion occurs in the subject in the preview image in an environment that the preview image of the camera has low illuminance and a low frame rate, the frame rate of the preview frame image is increased up to a rate in which a motion blur is not generated, thereby improving quality of the image.
