A method and apparatus for searching for files on a storage device and a router, which relate to the technical field of the Internet. The method comprises: establishing an index for specified files on a storage device according to categories of files (S101), the categories of the files being determined according to file types or identifiers of devices that upload the files, and the storage device being a storage device configured on a router; and providing a category view of the specified files to user equipments (S102), the category view comprising category identifiers of the files. A category view of specified files is provided to user equipments according to types of the files or identifiers of devices that upload the files, so that when different user equipments check the files on a storage device of the router, classification-based search can be performed more flexibly, which helps a user search for the files, and therefore operations are easy, convenient and quick, and the user experience is good. |
