UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN HAVING HIGH ELONGATION AND RIGIDITY MODULUS AND THE METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a unsaturated polyester resin having high elongation and high rigidity and a method of producing the same and more specifically, to a unsaturated polyester resin having high elongation and high rigidity that is produced by reacting 10 to 40 parts by weight of diethylene glycol (DEG) and 5 to 20 parts by weight of neopentyl glycol (NPG) as polyhydric alcohols; 10 to 40 parts by weight of isophthalic acid (IPA) and 5 to 40 parts by weight of adipic acid as saturated basic acids; 5 to 30 parts by weight of maleic anhydride (MAn) as unsaturated basic acid; 30 to 50 parts by weight of a styrene monomer (SM); 0.1 to 0.5 parts by weight of a catalyst with respect to 100 parts by weight of isophthalic acid (IPA); 0.01 to 0.05 parts by weight of a polymerization inhibitor; and 0.1 to 0.5 parts by weight of a cobalt-based curing accelerator, and a method of producing the same. The unsaturated polyester resin having high elongation and high rigidity according to the present invention has a remarkable effect of availability in various applications owing to short curing time at room temperature, superior mechanical properties, and much higher elongation and elasticity, and better tensile strength and Barcol hardness (rigidity) than those of conventional unsaturated polyester resins.
