PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving visibility of an image display device with which an image display device excellent in antireflection performance and contrast in a bright place can be obtained, even when an optical laminate is used, which includes an optical transparent substrate having birefringence in a plane such as a polyester film.SOLUTION: There is provided a method of improving visibility of an image display device that includes an optical laminate having an optical functional layer in one plane of an optical transparent substrate having birefringence in a plane, where the optical laminate is arranged such that a slow axis in a direction in which the refractive index of the optical transparent substrate is large is in parallel to the vertical direction of a display screen of the image display device.SELECTED DRAWING: None
