PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium and aluminum based catalytic composition effective in selective dimerization reaction of ethylene to 1-butene, and the use thereof.SOLUTION: A catalytic composition comprises at least one titanium based alkoxy or aryloxy titanium compound and at least one preformed mixture of a Lewis base (LB) type additive and an aluminum based trialkylaluminum type derivative in proportions close to stoichiometry. The molar ratio "LB/Al" between the Lewis base (LB) type additive and the aluminum compound (Al) is strictly more than 0.5. The molar ratio between the aluminum compound (Al) and the alkoxy or aryloxy titanium compound is in the range 1/1 to 1000/1 mol/mol.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
