A non-aqueous electrolyte lithium ion battery E is provided with a positive pole terminal 1 and a negative pole terminal 2, a battery case 3, and an explosion-proof valve formed on the outer peripheral surface of the battery case 3. The non-aqueous electrolyte lithium ion battery is configured so that an electrode body 10 is housed inside the battery case 3. The electrode body 10 has a positive pole current collector 11 and positive pole electrode plates 12, and a negative pole current collector 13 and negative pole electrode plates 14. The electrode body 10 has a structure in which the positive pole electrode plates 12 and the negative pole electrode plates 14 are respectively wound around separators 15. A gas-absorbing material is disposed inside the battery case (housing) 3 of the lithium ion battery E. The gas-absorbing material is made of sodium aluminate. According to the lithium ion battery of the present invention, discharge, to the outside, of a gas generated inside the battery and of a non-aqueous electrolyte vapor during abnormal operation can be suppressed. |
