The present invention relates to a remote meter reading system which comprises: a meter reading terminal which comprises a sleep mode and a driving mode, and transmits meter reading data in the driving mode; and a wireless terminal placed to be movable, and to receive the meter reading data from the meter reading terminal. The wireless terminal transmits a wake-up signal with a first time cycle to the meter reading terminal. The meter reading terminal checks the wake-up signal with a second time cycle, and is converted from the sleep mode into the driving mode by the checked wake-up signal.
