Provided is a novel infrared-transmitting glass which can be vitrified without containing a compound harmful to the environment, and which has high optical transparency from the visible region to a middle infrared region having a wavelength of about 4-8 µm. An infrared-transmitting glass characterized by containing, in terms of mol%, at least 50% TeO2, 0-45% ZnO (excluding 0%), and 0-50% (excluding 0% and 50%) RO (where R represents at least one species selected from Ca, Sr, and Ba). |
