PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which a reflection-type semiconductor optical amplifier may cause deterioration in the S/N ratio of signal light that has gone through optical modulation in a high-frequency band.SOLUTION: A communication system includes: an end-side optical transmitter including a reflection-type semiconductor optical amplifier; a reflection unit for reflecting output light from the end-side optical transmitter; and an end station-side optical receiver that is connected with the end-side optical transmitter via a transmission path, and receives the output light from the optical transmitter by limiting the frequency band of the output light. The reflection-type semiconductor optical amplifier amplifies the output light reflected by the reflection unit and modulates it according to an electric signal to transmit the resulting light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
