Solid oxide cell stack comprising a plurality of stacked cell units, each unit comprises a cell layer and an interconnect layer, wherein one interconnect layer separates one cell unit from the adjacent cell unit in the cell stack, wherein at least one of said layers in at least one cell unit has at least one primary gas inlet opening and wherein at least one adjacent layer in the same cell unit has at least one secondary gas inlet opening, wherein said primary gas inlet opening and said secondary gas inlet opening partly overlap, the overlap defines a common gas inlet zone where inlet gas flows from the primary gas inlet opening to the secondary gas inlet opening.
