The present invention relates to random access channel transmission technology in a mobile communication system. More specifically, the present invention relates to a device and method for a terminal operating in a frequency division duplex (FDD) mode to transmit a random access channel on the basis of the channel quality of a downlink or uplink channel. In particular, the present invention provides a device and a method by which a terminal transmits a random access channel in an FDD mode, the method comprising the steps of: receiving, via a transmission channel, a reference signal for measuring the quality of the transmission channel which is transmitting a random access channel; measuring the quality of the transmission channel by using the reference signal, and determining whether there is a random access channel transmission; and transmitting a random access channel via the transmission channel. |
