Abstract A surgical table comprises first and second vertical support columns spaced apart at a fixed distance from each other; a patient support comprising a first section and a second section and extending between the first and second support columns at a length and comprising first and second outer ends opposite from each other. A joint is provided at inward ends of the first section and the second section. First and second mechanical arrangements respectively couple the first and second opposing outer ends to the first and second vertical support columns during the articulation at the joint. Each of the first and second outer ends of the patient support moves toward and away from the respective vertical support column while the vertical support column remains at the fixed distance. |
