Provided are an analysis method and an analysis device for analyzing saturate, aromatic, resin, and asphaltene (SARA) components in a petroleum composition easily, in a short amount of time, and in a space-saving manner. This component analysis method for a petroleum composition comprises: a first step in which a solution is obtained by mixing a petroleum composition and a paraffin-base solvent; a second step in which, after the solution is dripped onto a surface of a thin-film chromatograph, by allowing a prescribed amount of time to pass, the solution is made to move in the planar direction of the thin-film chromatograph; a third step in which, by analyzing discrepancies in color by location in the thin-film chromatograph that has been colored by the solution, the area of a region where an asphaltene component is present, the area of a region where an aromatic component and a resin component are present, and the area of a region where a saturate component is present are calculated; and a fourth step in which, on the basis of the proportions of the areas of the three regions obtained in the third step, mass ratios relating to the four components consisting of the saturate component, the aromatic component, the resin component, and the asphaltene component, present in the petroleum composition are calculated. |
