PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deformation detection method for a sealed secondary battery, capable of highly accurately detecting the deformation of a sealed secondary battery while discriminating a swelling of an electrode from a swelling due to generation of gas, and a sealed secondary battery.SOLUTION: A sealed secondary battery 1 includes an electrode group 22 housed inside a sealed outer packaging body 21, the electrode group comprising a positive electrode 23 and a negative electrode 24 stacked with a separator 25 disposed therebetween. In a deformation detection method for the sealed secondary battery 1, a polymer matrix layer 3 is affixed to an external surface of a wall part 28a of the outer packaging body 21 facing the electrode group 22 in a thickness direction of the positive electrode 23 and the negative electrode 24 or in a direction orthogonal to the thickness direction. The polymer matrix layer 3 contains fillers dispersed therein, the fillers providing change to an external field in accordance with a deformation of the polymer matrix layer 3. A detector 4 detects changes in the external field in accordance with the deformation of the polymer matrix layer 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
