The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for detecting abnormal traffic. The method for detecting the abnormal traffic according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a regression line extracting step of the abnormal traffic detection apparatus collecting the traffic on a network and extracting the regression line of the traffic; an estimated traffic amount calculation step of the abnormal traffic detection apparatus calculating an estimated traffic amount on the network at a predetermined time point using the regression line; and a determination step of the abnormal traffic detection apparatus comparing the real traffic amount, at the predetermined time point, with the estimated traffic amount and determining whether the abnormal traffic occurs on the network.
