<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch the orientation of an external cable conveniently according to the installation position of a printer, and to install the printer in an optional position without being disturbed by external cables. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 1 includes a box-shaped housing 2 in which an outlet 9 for discharging a recording sheet, drawn from a paper roll and printed, to the outside is formed, and a separation unit 30 having an enclosure 31 in which an external connector 32 for connection with an external cable is formed, and being attached removably to the interior of the housing while exposing the external connector.
