The present invention relates to an electronic device, and a method for processing character input in an electronic device. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the method includes the following steps: determining at least one input behavior related to an input when at least one character is inputted; and determining whether or not a function for automatically recommending at least one word similar to the inputted word is deactivated based on the determined input behavior if a preset delimiter is inputted. Therefore, the present invention enables the character to be inputted with less error on a small screen.
