A burner device 190 has an air intake 201, a burner head 192 including an ignition device 193, and a body section 196 defining a fluid flow channel 198 between the air intake and the burner head. The burner device further includes a gas injector (205 Fig 5) for injecting combustible gas into the fluid flow channel. The burner head is oriented such that its longitudinal axis is substantially perpendicular to the plane in which the fluid flow channel is defined and in which fluid flows, in use, along said channel, and the body section can be formed separately from the burner head. The air intake may be associated with a fan 195 within a fan housing 194 having an outlet 203 communicating with the fluid flow channel. The burner head may include a mixing chamber 213 into which a combustible gas and air are mixed for ignition by the ignition device. The heating apparatus may be a water heater and/or a space heater for a vehicle or mobile/portable structure. |
