Provided is a work transfer device, which reduces time required for transferring a work, and a machine tool. The work transfer device comprises: a lifting part (29) which has a chuck for holding a work (W); a slider (26) which supports the lifting part (29) to be moved in a first direction (D1) and is moved in a second direction different from the first direction (D1); and a drive part (30) which drives the lifting part (29). The drive part (30) has a driving source (30a) which is arranged to get out of the lifting part (29) and the slider (26); and a transfer part (30b) which transfers the driving force from the driving source (30a) to the lifting part (29). |
