METHOD OF FAILOVER FOR NETWORK SERVICE IN SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKING ENVIRONMENT

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for overcoming a failure occurring in a controller in a software-defined network (SDN) environment. The method for overcoming a failure to provide a network service is performed by a switch in the SDN environment and includes the following steps: requesting a failover key to a master controller; receiving the failover key from the master controller; and transmitting a failover request message including the failover key to a slave controller when a failure occurs in the master controller. Therefore, the network service can be stably recovered and continued while traffic is minimized.
