Microtube with a diameter of 0.4-2 mu m, comprises components of the outer membrane of Escherichia colicells and recombinantly expressed surface (S)-layer proteins. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for producing the microtube comprising expression of S-layer proteins in Escherichia colicells, where (I) is formed around the cells and encloses one or more cells and optionally removing E. colicells by treating with an aqueous solution of mono- or disaccharide or an aqueous ethanol solution; (2) use of a nucleic acid sequence encoding for S-layer protein and comprising nucleic acid sequences that encode a protein of SEQ ID NO: 2 (comprising a fully defined 1228 amino acid sequence, as given in the specification), SEQ ID NO: 4 (comprising a fully defined 1099 amino acid sequence, as given in the specification), SEQ ID NO: 6 (comprising a fully defined 1238 amino acid sequence, as given in the specification) or SEQ ID NO: 8 (comprising a fully defined 1101 amino acid sequence, as given in the specification), nucleic acid sequences of SEQ ID NO: 1 (comprising a fully defined 3684 base pair sequence, as given in the specification), SEQ ID NO: 3 (comprising a fully defined 3300 base pair sequence, as given in the specification), SEQ ID NO: 5 (comprising a fully defined 3714 base pair sequence, as given in the specification) or SEQ ID NO: 7 (comprising a fully defined 3303 base pair sequence, as given in the specification) or their partial sequences, or sequences, that are homologous to at least one of the sequences, with at least 50%, preferably 90% sequence identity, for the production of biological microtube; and (3) E. colicell comprising the nucleic acid sequence. |
