<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip separating device capable of effectively separating a chip from a suctioned airflow when removing with suction the chip produced by tapping from a machining position. <P>SOLUTION: The chip separating device includes: an upper box 9 removably mounted on a lower box 7 for storing the chip; an inflow port 13 of chip-containing airflow formed in one side wall 9A of the upper box 9 and an outflow port 15 of the airflow formed in the other side wall 9B of the upper box 9; an expansion chamber 19 with its lower side opened, which is located in a position lower than the outflow port in a way to be connected with the inflow port 13; a guide plate 21 provided at the opening of the expansion chamber, which guides the airflow obliquely downward in the opposite direction from the airflow into the expansion chamber 19; a rising passage 25 formed between the one side wall 9A of the upper box 9 and the expansion chamber 19, through which the airflow heads for the outflow port 15; and an airflow split means 23 provided at a surface opposite to the inflow port 13 in the expansion chamber 19, which splits the airflow having run into the expansion chamber 19 into two or more airflows. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
