A stabilisation system for a UAV comprises positional stabilisation means that may include optical sensors, gyroscopes or other location means. A UAV may include a chassis 170 with rotor assemblies 160, 165 and outriggers 175,180. A UAV apparatus with the proposed stabilisation system may be used for inspecting, surveying or monitoring and is primarily intended for use in the inspection of conduits such as culverts, pipes, sewers, drains and tunnels. The UAV apparatus may include a parent UAV 25 which carries a child UAV unit 40 that comprises a child UAV 45. The child UAV unit is attached to the parent via a tether and the child UAV can be deployed with the use of an insertion mechanism 50. |
