摘要 A portable device for shaping aerofoil edges e.g. refurbishing the leading edges of gas turbine blades 34, comprises a housing 12, a plurality of guides 22 (52, Figures 5, 6) for locating the edge of the aerofoil relative to a cutting tool 32, the cutting tool being mounted so that in use the cutting edge can move in a generally perpendicular direction to the cutting direction, in use the housing moving in a cutting direction so as to remove material from the edge of the aerofoil. The cutting tool may be pivotally mounted by a bolt (46, Figure 4) such that it can pivot (48, Figure 4) so as to better follow the complex shape of the aerofoil edge. Springs (50, Figure 4) may bias it to a central position. The cutting tool may be triangular (Figure 2) having cutting edges shaped to match the desired edge profile. The guides may comprise a v-shaped lead roller 22 profiled to engage the edge of the aerofoil and two support rollers on inclined spindles (56, Figure 6), biased by sheet titanium springs (54, Figure 5) into engagement with the pressure and suction surfaces of the aerofoil respectively. In use the device is positioned on the edge of the aerofoil and manually moved along the edge of the blade. A vacuum or like arrangement may be provided to collect debris. The aerofoil may be re-shaped in-situ.
