<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a portable terminal device that allows for generation of a user original illumination with user desired colors; a program; and an illumination generation method. <P>SOLUTION: A portable telephone 1 includes: a display 21 to display an image on a display surface 21b; an illumination section 40 to display illumination according to an illumination pattern composed of a combination of a predetermined lighting pattern and predetermined colors; and a CPU 100. The CPU 100 sets an extraction area of color information with respect to a taken image 202 displayed on the display surface 21b, and extracts the color information contained in the extraction area.
