A loft flooring system, especially for retrofitting or loft conversion, comprises a plurality of bridging supports 1 each adapted to provide an elevated bridge above, but not necessarily over-lying, joists J1, J2, J3, J4 of an existing loft floor. Each bridging support comprises first and second upright legs or stilts 1a, 1b, each with a head and a foot and a spanning rail or beam 1c therebetween to extend substantially parallel to the axes of the joists J1, J2, J3, J4 and over which flooring boards or panels F are laid. A pair of foot-supporting rails or beams 2 support the feet, with one supporting the foot of the first leg and the other supporting the foot of the second leg, the foot supporting rails lying transversely above the joists J1, J2, J3, J4 to span between them. |
